The
three black and white photographs featured here by Zbigniew
Libera were taken in 1982 at Hrubieszsw Prison in Poland.
Libera was a political prisoner there for 6 months because
of his activities for Solidarnosc.
These
photos are extremely rare glimpses at life in prison during
the height of the Polish crackdown on Solidarity. Libera was
kept in handcuffs during his stay in Hrubieszsw. These images
have never been shown before in public.
More
work by Libera will be featured throughout the month of March
2000. Click on the Biograph
link for more information.
