Nigel Freeman is a painter and printmaker
living in Brooklyn. Since he received a Master of Fine Arts degree
from Columbia University in 1992, he worked as an artist in Mexico,
London, and most recently Paris. An artist-in-residence in the Fondation
des Etats-Unis for two years, he studied painting at the Ecole des
Beaux Arts, and opened an alternative exhibition space in the Bastille.
His travels have formed a fascination with representations of the
exotic, and the genre of historical painting. His latest series of
work recreates scenes of natural conflagrations and human disasters,
mythic events -- the great flood, the day of the locusts -- on large
oil canvases. Nigel can be contacted at zangamanga@aol.com. |
